In todays world there are numerous controversial topics. One that falls under the radar commonly is parenting techniques. Even if the thought is not orally expressed, everyone thinks they know the best way to raise a child. Who knows all the correct answers in parenting? It would be ignorant to believe a single person does. There are multiple aspects to parenting; discipline, education, moral values, and protection. Parents play a vital role by influencing children during their growth. David Bly said,Your children will become what you are; so be what you want them to be. On the negative side, some adults take discipline too far. There is a point where discipline turns into abuse. This is something that will affect a child mentally/emotionally. The delineation between the two cannot be detected. Beating a child will scar them mentally which in turn will affect them emotionally. This will last much longer than the visible hurt. Every ten-seconds an account of child abuse is reported. Child abuse occurs at every socio-economic level, across ethnic and cultural lines, within all religions, and at all levels of education (Childhelp). Parenting plays a large role in the continuation of abuse, it has been proven that if a parent was beaten at a young age, they too will abuse their children. This aids the thought that future generations depend on the actions of todays parenting to succeed. Another essential part of parenting is providing children with the best education.
